Events of Ideate E-week on 10th Feb ’11 (E-MELA)

Location: J1 block, first floor, Amity school of Business

On 10th February,’11, the main highlight of the E-Week, the IDEATE E-Mela began at 12.30pm. The posters that the students had put up helped in bringing large crowds to the mela. The students came up with innovative ideas to set up stalls, especially the teddy bear stall which was a hit among the students (being teddy bear day).
The scene at the E-Mela resembled the scene at the famous Chandni Chowk with smiling faces of students trying to attract as many customers to their stalls. The mela had various food stalls, everything prepared hot with sweets, cakes and cold drinks. Shakes and drinks prepared by the students themselves was one of the striking features of the mela especially among the faculty members.

There were a lot of stalls like Lucky draw, pizza bakers, cakes, pastries, home made chocolates, jhatpat snacks, chocolate brownies, hand made cards, flowers, hangings, accessories, cards, fun games and a lot more.
All the faculty representatives and the core organizing team of E-Cell witnessed the occasion with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. The event was concluded at around 4 pm with the students still reluctant about wrapping up for the day. However, their spirits rose while calculating the profits they had made, some of which went upto an incredible amount of Rs. 15000 arising from minimal investment.
The E-Mela was truly entrepreneurial in nature, enabling the students to express their creativity at an institutional platform and upholding the spirit of innovation!

Location:  J1 BLOCK, AMITY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, NOIDA
On 9th February, 2011, all the E-Cell event coordinators for the day arrived at the J1 block to start fresh at around 9 a.m. The registration desk was all set to enroll people for events of the day like ‘RESOURCE HUNT’, ‘KLICKSTART’ & ‘PROTOTYPING’ which magnetized huge mob of students.

The first event started at around 10a.m. called the ‘RESOURCE HUNT’. In the event, the teams were supposed to get entrepreneurial clues and puzzles to solve and advance to the next level.  The registration desk was surrounded by excited students all around with a glint of desperation and confidence in their eyes to take part in the event. The students were still trying to get themselves registered even after the hunt started. The expected number for the event was just 10, but it came as a surprise for the organizing committee when the number reached to a breathtaking 41. It proved to be a great success and one could witness students running around in the block trying to fulfill the tasks before everyone else, asking for help from fellow students or faculty representatives. It went on until 2 pm when finally all the teams happily finished the event and were delighted to have been a part of such a rush.

At 12 pm, there was an entrepreneurial talk given by Mr. Shadab Mobin, the Delhi region consultant of National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), wherein everyone had gathered to discuss and interact on various aspects of ‘how to become an entrepreneur’.

The second event was ‘KLICKSTART’ – a virtual entrepreneurial journey. This entrepreneurial simulation game was designed to test the entrepreneurship skills and talent of people. There were 36 teams who participated for the event and made it more intense as a competition. The event went on for a long time in parallel with the RESOURCE HUNT.

The third event called ‘PROTOTYPING’ was to ensure operational effectiveness at work. The teams were supposed to prepare welcome drinks of any type, taste and flavor. The students came up with great recipes of mocktails, smoothies, shakes and other drinks which were original in their combination of ingredients and presentation. The students were judged upon their presentation of the drinks and viability of the drink in today’s market scenario. The panel of judges was impressed with the way people participated with full vigor and great zeal.

At 3:30 pm, a street play or NUKKAD NATAK was organized and performed by students from AMITY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS. The theme of the plays so performed was ‘knowledge up-gradation for rural people at construction sites’.  All the labour force was brought to a common platform with different students and faculty from AMITY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS. They were motivated and encouraged to use hygienic places to cook and preserve food in a healthier way & went off happily having seen the students perform for them.

On the whole, the day was a great success and was well coordinated and well administered.

Events of Ideate E-week on 8th Feb ’11

Location: J1 block, AMITY SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, NOIDA

On February 8th, the second day of the event, at around 8:30 a.m , the ecell members started putting posters for the events for the same day . The registration desk was set up and was open for business at 9am sharp. Many people enrolled in taking part in the events for the day which included exciting events of E-HAST KALA , CHHOTA KAAM BADA INAAM, PHOENIX: WEALTH OUT OF WASTE, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN……….

E hast kala was a painting competition held amongst students from the first year who’ve just been recent past outs from school. The theme given to them was ‘ideas for india’, in line with the NEN e-week India celebrations. The artists painted on canvases of sheets , also t- shirt. The students showed immense potential for their items to be auctioned off at our E Mela to be held on Thursday.

Microentrepreneurship is a very important part to be explored by all business students. Taking this thought forward was organized the event called ‘CHOTA KAAM BADA INAAM’ at 10o clock . During this event the participating teams were to go to a microentrepreneur’s business (like maggi vendors, parantha walas, momo selling vendors etc.) The members of the teams had to understand the business model and suggest corrections for the same. The videotapings of the activity so performed was displayed to the judges with an oral presentation given by the teams themselves.

We usually discard waste material thinking of its no further use but then we undermine one thought that the waste can act a very useful resource as well. The participating teams had a chance to experience such resource utilization efficiency to create an innovative product. The teams came up with different products such as a robot, office equipments(pen stand, lamp shades, photo frames, chequebook supporter),  make up keeper, clinical equipment(inhaler masks, gloves etc.), hookah/ sheesha etc.

Next to all these events at 3o clock, we had four teams of five people each participating in ‘CATCH ME IF YOU CAN’, an HR  activity, aimed to relating HR concepts to reality. In the activity the teams were shown a series of eleven clippings edited out of bollywood movies(such as chak de, fashion, corporate, rocket singh etc.) . From these clippings, the participants had to judge what concept laid behind such movie clips. For example, a scene of rocket singh developing an HR concept related with interviewing. Participants were then to prepare a role play according to the HR concept assigned to them by lucky dip. The participants showed immense talent and enthusiasm & performed well executed role plays.

All the events were highly praised and appreciated by the panel of judges, student audiences, participating teams and organizers.

There are major events lined up for the entire e week including the resource wherein the teams get to solve different entrepreneurial puzzles, the emela which will enhance students team building and managerial and networking abilities. Other games like loan proposal, prototyping , Klickstart , what an idea sirji are some other enlisted activities. The organizers look forward to some real good fun and participation in the coming days of the week.
